Bulbs; a spade or fork; space in your borders to plant them; a rake; labels to mark what's planted where.
Optional: gardening gloves, hand trowel.

Dig out a hole in well prepared earth large enough to take a group of your bulbs. Usually, you should plant bulbs at least twice their own depth and width apart. Place the bulbs with their growing tips pointing upwards.

When you've got a group of bulbs in position, use your hand or a trowel to draw the soil across them. Take care to keep the bulbs in place and avoid damaging them.

Use the back of your rake to firm the soil down over the space where you bulbs are planted. Avoid treading on this area as you may disturb or damage the bulbs.

Label your bulbs with their type and variety, so you can avoid disturbing them when they've died down.
