Strawberry Florence: ideal for a late season harvest producing delicious sweet strawberries from the end of June to the end of July. A prolific cropper with exceptional pest and disease resistance
Strawberry Flamenco: try growing this ever-bearing variety to maximise your crop of delicious sweet and juicy fruits over a long picking period. From only 12 mature plants you will be able to harvest a bumper crop of 10kg of fruit in one cropping season from mid May until November.

Strawberries are best planted in the spring or autumn. They prefer a sunny and sheltered position in fertile, free-draining soil. Improve your soil with lots of organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure prior to growing strawberry plants.

When planting your strawberries give them plenty of space for better cropping and easy access. For growing in the ground, plant strawberries 45cm apart and in rows spaced 75cm apart. Use a trowel to dig a hole big enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. If planting strawberry runners spread the roots out in the hole and make sure the crown of the plant is resting at soil level.

Pot-grown plants should be planted so the top of the compost is level with the soil surface. Planting too deeply can cause the strawberry plants to rot, and planting with the crown too high above the soil surface can cause the plants to dry out and die. Firm the plants in well and water thoroughly.

Make space in your garden today for this spectacular collection and you will soon be rewarded with a glorious display of top quality roses. Vivid and vibrant, these roses are ideal for scented gardens, cut flower gardens and cottage gardens.

Type: Hardy Shrub
Flowering Period:-Jun-Sep
Height:100cm
Spread: 60cm

Plant bare root roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. If planting is not possible then 'heel them in' by covering the roots with soil until conditions allow them to be planted in their permanent positions. When growing roses, choose a position in fertile well drained soil in full sun. Roses are greedy plants so add a small handful of granular fertiliser and mix some well rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Dig a hole of sufficient width and depth to comfortably accommodate the bare root plant. Position the plant in the hole so that the base of the stems sits just below soil level. Backfill the soil around the roots of the plant, firm in, and water well.

Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.

Thompson & Morgan Blackcurrant Big Ben 1 Bareroot

Deliciously sweet and full of flavour, Thompson & Morgan Blackcurrant Big Ben is one of the largest blackcurrant varieties ever seen! The large, glossy, strong-skinned fruits weigh on average 2.9g each, compared to a weight of 1.1g in standard varieties! This easy to grow blackcurrant bush is a high yielding cultivar that produces up to 4.5kg of fruit per plant at maturity. The fruits are borne on naturally arching stems for easy picking and are sweet enough to be eaten fresh or used in cakes, jams and crumbles and are suitable for freezing. Perfect for kitchen gardens and wildlife gardens.

  • RHS Perfect for Pollinators
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit
  • Excellent mildew resistance

Type: Hardy Shrub
Flowering Period: Apr-May
Height: 1.2m
Spread: 1.2m

Blackcurrants prefer a position in full sun but will tolerate semi shade. Shelter from cold winds and late spring frosts as these conditions may damage the flowers, and reduce the yield of fruit later in the year. Grow blackcurrants in rich, moist, well drained soil. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure into the ground prior to planting. Plant blackcurrant bushes between late autumn and spring, at a distance of 1.5m apart and a depth of 5cm lower than the soil mark on the stem. Planting blackcurrants slightly deep will encourage the production of extra stems from below ground level.

After planting, reduce the stems to 2 buds above ground level to promote sturdy new growth. Keep blackcurrant plants well watered during dry periods, particularly as the fruits are developing. Netting the bushes will help to protect the currants from birds. Blackcurrants can be harvested from July.

After the first season, prune out any thin or weak shoots. In the following years prune out any damaged or weak shoots before removing 20% of the remaining stems to create an open bush, and encourage fresh new shoots to develop.
