The bamboo is smooth and non-porous which means that it will not absorb or trap the substances being ground. Now you will be able to smell the aroma and see the texture as your recipe develops and your dish will taste better! Why not try out a pesto recipe? You will need 2 peeled cloves of garlic, ½ a teaspoon of salt, 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 cups of fresh basil leaves, ½ a cup of pine nuts and a dash of nutmeg. Pound the salt, nutmeg and garlic into a smooth paste and then pound the basil into this mixture. Work in the olive oil a little at a time. Finally add the cheese and pine nuts and mix until a smooth paste is formed. Pesto ready to serve immediately with pasta - and it is also great drizzled over tomatoes or Italian bread!
