Description

Ideal for balconies and patios, the Haxnicks Vigoroot Potato and Tomato Planter is suitable for a wide variety of herbs, flowers and shrubs as well as exotics and smaller sized vegetables.

The magic of Vigoroot fabric comes from its ability to 'air-prune' the roots of plants, dramatically changing their formation and their ability to sustain the plant in a limited volume of compost. It also prevents the roots from growing too long, and helps prevent plants from becoming pot-bound, which would normally limit the plants' growth. This means that the plants can grow to a much larger size in a relatively small pot.

At the end of the growing season they can be washed in cold water, thoroughly dried, folded away and stored for the following year.

Features:

  • Made from recycled polyester, PET bottles & clothing fabric
  • Air pruning fabric for healthier crops
  • Reinforced handles
  • Handy growing guide included
  • Higher yields
  • More nutrients absorbed
  • Greater resistance to harsh weather, disease and pests

Dimensions:

Dia.35 x H45cm

Tip: Super efficient root systems = hungry plants, so plants will need to be regularly fed with a suitable fertilizer (particularly if they have been growing in Vigoroot for a year or more).

I'd never heard of Vigoroot before seeing them on Greenfingers. I needed something eco and organic gardening friendly to grow potatoes so decided to give these a try. The pots are a bit misshapen from being folded but it is possible to get them more rounded when putting in the compost. (Although I haven't managed to get mine perfectly round yet, it's not a major issue for me.) My potatoes seem to be growing in them without issue. The pots have weathered a few days of constant, extremely heavy rain and high winds without any issue. They haven't got waterlogged; they haven't dried out, even round the edges (which is always an issue with standard containers). I'm quietly impressed and it's given me the confidence to try other sizes (10L, 20L and a 5L tower).
