Highly recommended for its flavour, Asparagus Gijnlim produces high yields of medium-thick, mid-green, tasty spears. Gijnlim performs well on sandy and clay soils but later spear thickness will remain good if you plant in well-drained fertile soil. It can yield for 12 years or more and has good resistance to Stemphylium and Puccinia diseases.

Time will tell

Plants looked healthy enough upon arrival but only time will tell whether they are (eventually) plentiful. Far cheaper than many others; perhaps there's a good reason?

Decided to grow several varieties of asparagus on allotment I have tasted Gijnlim before and I enjoyed its flavour Hope crowns I purchased will produce good spears in 2 years time Ordered two packages and was a little concerned that roots were very ridged from being folded and secured with a rubber band I soaked roots prior to planting and that did not make them any more plyable Planted as best as I could and hope they grow
Not got them in the ground yet but look good quality

I have planted the asparagus plants and they seem to be doing well. It will probably be some time before I can crop them but it seems promising.

When is the best time to plant?
The crowns are best planted between March and May, and though a few spears can be cut the following year, it is best left for two years so that it can grow into a strong plant.
Will Gijnlim grow well in fertile soil which is calcareous?
Our supplier advises that the Gijnlim should be perfectly happy in those conditions
